THE CHURCH
~ THOSE PERSECUTED ~

Please excuse the mess. We're redesigning to add material and resources about persecution.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellency of the power may be of God,
and not of us.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus,
that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 KJV

Don’t forget about those in prison.
Suffer with them as though you were there yourself.
Share the sorrow of those being mistreated,
as though you feel their pain in your own bodies.
Hebrews 13:3 NLT

Father God,
we plead that Your Peace saturate the hearts of all confronting trial and persecution for the cause of Your holy Name. Bind up broken hearts and use our hands to accomplish this whenever possible.
May their lives overflow with miracles, their oppressors witnessing Your Power and placing their trust in You.
We stand against every force of evil that opposes them and seek Your sovereign orchestration over every detail of their destinies. Please guard and guide their every thought, action, and reaction. Grant them opportunities to plant seeds that will produce a human harvest ceaselessly multiplied a hundredfold!
Be near and hear their every prayer.
And Father, please grant us the courage and conviction to remain faithful should we be called to suffer likewise.
May this prayer resonate before Your Throne until we all stand in Your Presence to love and be loved by You throughout all ages without end.

Father,
continually draw our minds to those who are tortured for Your holy Name. Break our hearts and bind our hearts so near to them that it may be as though we are sharing their chains and their torment.
Grant us wisdom, compassion and extreme passion in our prayers for these - Your children, our brothers and sisters - through the sacrifice of Your sacred Blood. Please help us to be faithful in ministering to them through prayer and any action that may become available. In this may we partner with them and with You in the fellowship of suffering.

(Inspired by Hebrews 13:3 and Philippians 3:10)

Lord,
while desperate cries rise to Your Throne,
we
- Your church –
are guilty
of searching the skies
seeking to be raptured away
while so much work remains to be done.
Lord, please give us
a fresh passion and compassion for the lost.
O God,
we lay our hearts and lives upon Your Altar
and cry,
if our death by suffering and persecution
might bring just one more soul into Your glorious Kingdom
to the praise of Your holy Name,
give us the courage
to choose this pathway.
O glorious God,
please spend us until Your Work and Your Will
are complete –
until all who will
fully surrender their hearts to You,
for You desire and deserve the deepest love
and highest adoration
of all Your creation.
For Your glory and honor
may we live
and breathe
and pray…

Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice,
and weep with those who weep.
Romans 12:14-15 NKJV

Father,
at this time You have assigned me to a part of the world that has been blessed by freedom - not yet able to comprehend the horrors experienced by Your children in other nations - those suffering because of their fierce love for You. May this prayer be as a cup of cold refreshing water, strengthening them across the miles.
Lift them from the depths of despair and into Your Presence. Dry their tears and minister thoughts that grant them strength, endurance, and even joy. Wrap Your warm and tender Arms around those who are cold, and blow Your cool refreshing Spirit upon those who are in extreme heat. Bandage the wounds of those who are physically broken and mend the hearts of those that are shattered.
Lord, across the many miles, bind our hearts to one another and to You.

Lord God,
do not permit us to take our faith and our religious freedom for granted. May we be continually stirred by a zeal to pray for those who are persecuted because of their love and devotion for you…
And may we stir up others to pray also…
We lift up foreign governments… our government… those separated from their families… those living in fear… those in hiding… the lonely… the dying… those enduring extreme temperatures… the oppressed… those suffering… those in chains…
And Lord Jesus, we pray that those who torment these will also surrender their hearts and lives to You because of the passionate testimony of their victims.
Please plant these all firmly within our hearts and minds that we might not sin against them and You by neglecting to pray for them.

Father God,
I am moved by Your Love – bound in the spirit to go wherever You send me, not knowing what will happen as I walk through the moments of each day. Yet none of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself so that I may finish the race You have set before me and the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus Christ to fulfill my role in advancing The Great Commission.
May I  walk resolutely, innocent of the blood of all men.
Help me to never shun any opportunity to declare the complete counsel of God.
For the honor of Your Name, let me live and breathe and die.

(Inspired by Acts 20:22-27)

Jesus said,
“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Matthew 5:43-45 HCSB

As Mary, we come to You as servants. Let it be to us according to Your Word, Your Will for our lives, whatever that looks like...

(Inspired by Luke 1:38)

We are pressured
in every way
but not crushed;
we are perplexed
but not in despair;
we are persecuted
but not abandoned;
we are struck down
but not destroyed.
We always carry
the death of Jesus
in our body,
so that the life of Jesus
may also be revealed
in our body.
2 Corinthians 4:8-10 HCSB

Father God,
our hearts break as we pray for those who are suffering because of their love for You. Please grant them endurance and unyielding faith in every hardship. Provide them rest, comfort, and even joy. Plant songs of resounding praise deep within their hearts that flow as fountains watering spiritual seed, producing an abundant Eternal harvest. Keep these near to our hearts at all times, as they are so near to Yours.
By the Power of Your Holy Spirit, fulfill all Your good Intentions. May everyone give You special reverence because of these You love, and in Your Kingdom, may they receive great and special honor.

(Inspired by 2 Thessalonians 1)

Please give me a heart that beats with fierce, unquenchable love for my enemies, choosing always to do good to those who hate me. Show me how I may bless those who curse me and give me a burden to prayerfully intercede on behalf of those who spitefully use me.
When struck on the one cheek, grant me the courage to turn my face, offering the other cheek also.
Help me respond to all who take or borrow those things I claim as my own – for all that I am and all I possess truly belong to You.
Help me to be the kind of person to others that I desire them to be to me regardless of how they treat me or those I love.
I want to love and give, without expecting anything in return that I might be considered a child of The Living God.
Empty me of all judgment and condemnation, filling me with Truth and Mercy, that my life might be a praise and a blessing before You.

(Inspired by Luke 6:27-38)

Father,
we lift up our eyes to Your heavens, and from there look down upon the earth below. The heavens will someday vanish away – as smoke. The earth You created will grow old ~ like a dingy, tattered t-shirt. All that You’ve created will die and decay in like manner. But Your Salvation stands firm forever. Your Righteousness can never be abolished. Your Law is firmly inscribed upon our human hearts.
Help me not to fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their revilings. They will die also and face Judgment. O Father God, that they would open their hearts and minds to You, longing to spend their eternal destinies in Your holy Presence and Love.
Many will rise against us, yet You are our Comfort and Joy. Why should we fear man when You are on our side? You have conquered death and the grave. You have covered us with the shadow of Your Hand. We are Your children forever. O mighty God, be praised!
